Shahbaz Sharif Launched Women on Wheels Scheme in Punjab

Lahore news update that Government of Punjab Chief minister Shahbaz Sharif launched the scheme with the name of Women on Wheels motorbike subsidy program to empower the women of Punjab, you can call it women on wheels phase 2 program. This project is started with the collaboration of transport department and the bank of Punjab. Under this program government of Punjab will be distribute more than 3000 motorcycles to the women of Punjab under the transparent balloting process. Director General salman sufi said this campaign is specially design by the order of chief minister of Punjab shahbaz sharif to empower women in order serve as a powerful counter narrative at the time when bigotry and attacks on women are rising in the country. The interested candidates can submit application form from today date 22 January 2018 and the last date of submission of Application form is 25 February 2018.

The females’ age between 18 to 40 with a valid learner’s driving license or actual licence can avail subsidized motorcycles scheme. The ultimate aim of the Wow campaign is to promote mobility of women in Punjab and empower them to become independent individuals. All relevant documentation including valid CNIC, Punjab domicile certificate, passport-sized photograph, Secondary School/Matriculation Certificate, and in case of the student, an affidavit stating that maximum income does not exceed Rs30, 000 along with Rs3000 non-refundable application fee needs to be submitted to bop branches. The applicant will make down payment worth of Rs27, 000 and payment in 12 easy installments of Rs1, 856 monthly. Under this scheme, the Punjab government will be providing equity subsidy of Rs24,975 and 100 percent markup on the motorcycle.
